WELSHfest 2017
Séamus (James) Dunning, recently returned from Europe, founded his first Irish band in Athens, GA in 1979-1980.  Bands include Séamus and Dave, Blackwater, DoctorPaddy, TheBogDevils (Buffalo, NY), many solo performances, followed by Póg and TheBallybegBand.  He has done field work in Ireland and in Wales, was mentored by Ireland’s Prince of Pipers Finbar Furey.  He has performed in many a pub and countless Festivals.  Séamus appears now for the fourth WELSHFEST in Rockmart, and is featured on uilleann pipes, tin whistles, guitar and vocals, singing in English, Welsh and Irish languages.
George Norman is an old friend, a formidable multi-instrumentalist who has played all over Europe, ‘busking’ on the streets in his youth, and has done significant musical field work in several Celtic nations.  George has performed with Doctor Paddy, with his longtime friend Moira Nelligan in various ensembles and has been a cornerstone of The Buddy O’Reilly Band and formed CalliopeFair in Athens, GA. George performed in The Polska Dots and Lazik in Ireland, featuring Irish and international music, and performs now among many other groups by invitation.  Currently George is a prime mover in the scene of folk and international music in the Southeast.   George is featured on guitar and mandolin.
Joining us as a special treat for a Welsh audience is harpist Teresa Sheppard, a veritable virtuoso and a shining star on the Celtic harp. Teresa began with lessons with harpist Kelly Stewart and currently is a coveted guest and mentor at various Atlanta sessions where Celtic music is venerated.  Teresa also performs with fiddler Suzanne Harner in their Celtic harp and fiddle duo Sonas Ort and also plays harpat Kennesaw StateUniversityShe strokes the harp with such acumen and conjures such enchantment that the audience will know immediately: here is one born to the craft..
